Fock Johann, German prisoner, 7 August 1896
Unidentified photographer, albumen print on cardboard.
Mugshot of a German murderer, it reads above in the photograph that he attempted to kill his lover’s husband by sending him an explosive bomb that killed two other individuals instead.
This image was created by inserting a mirror on the photo set to reproduce the criminal’s front and profile in one single frame. This method remained in use until the end of the 19th century.
